Become part of an organization that saves lives!
Here are some amazing facts:
- Each year, more than 30,000 pints of life-saving blood are collected at local high schools, helping save more than 90,000 lives.
- Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood.
- Only three percent of Southern California’s eligible population donates blood. That’s not enough.
- Forty percent of the blood American Red Cross provides local hospitals is imported from other parts of the country. We need to collect more locally.
- Twenty percent of blood recipients are children. That means on average, more than 250 children need blood daily in Southern California hospitals.
- American Red Cross needs to provide approximately 1,100 units of blood each day to meet local patient needs.
Your time and dedication can help the American Red Cross:
The Red Cross Supplies 45% of the blood for the United States and more than 60% of the blood for Southern California.
We respond to 67,000 disasters each year-from wildfires to house fires to floods.
In addition to providing blood, the American Red Cross:
- Trains 12 million people a year in life-saving skills like CPR and water safety.
- Relays 4,000 messages per day between military members and their families.
The circuitry of giving
Each time you encourage others to give blood, new donors become a "base" for a lifetime of life-saving blood donations. |
