Welcome to the American Red Cross Leaders for Life program created exclusively for Southern California high schools. The purpose of this program is to provide recognition to high school blood donors and instill a lifelong commitment to blood donation.
High school students play a critical role in maintaining Southern California's blood supply. Each year, more than 30,000 pints of life-saving blood are collected at local high schools, helping save many thousands of lives. High schools also provide the greatest source of first time donors and are critical in creating future generations of blood donors.
The Leaders for Life program is designed to bring together high school donors and patients in Southern California hospitals. The goals of the program are to:
- Increase the number of high school blood drives held each year
- Promote blood donation among our youth
- Provide leadership and education opportunities
- Promote community spirit competition between high schools
